History of St Brendan's Primary School, Ganmain
The Presentation Sisters founded St. Brendan’s school in 1906. Classes were conducted in the original Church building. In 1931 a new brick building was opened with additions to this in 1967. A secondary department was added and continued until 1969, when owing to insufficient enrolment it was closed. Throughout the years there has been an active interest taken by the parents in work at the school. The Sisters maintained a presence in the school until the end of 1986. Without their dedication and commitment, the school would not be what it is today. Our school continues in the fine tradition laid down for us by the Sisters. In 1988 the Dominican Sisters took up residence in the convent and remained involved in the school until 2002.
2006 marked the 100 year anniversary of the opening of St Brendan’s School. A weekend of celebrations took place during October.
